Pakistani Minister wants to be a suicide bomber

Ijaz-ul-Haq is the son of former Pakistani dictator General Zia-ul-Haq, and currently religious affairs minister in the Pakistani government. His appointment came at the behest of none other than General Musharraf himself.

This is an archived blog post from The Acorn.

So while General Musharraf made speeches asking his countrymen to shun religious extremism last week, Ijaz announced his intention to be a suicide bomber himself.

We were baffled when General Pervez Musharraf decided to make Ijaz-ul Haq, son of former military dictator General Zia-ul Haq, a federal minister. But we were totally stumped when he was given the portfolio of religious affairs. Why? Here’s a specific example.

Two days ago, speaking at the launching of a book — Saleebi Dehshatgardi Aur Aalam-e-Islam (Christian Terrorism and The Muslim World) — authored by Maulana Sami-ul Haq, head of his own faction of JUI, Mr Haq said that anyone who did not believe in jihad was neither a Muslim nor a Pakistani. Mr Haq also told the audience that given what is happening to the Muslims, he was prepared himself to act as a human bomb. Is General Musharraf listening to this? [Daily Times]
