Australia sees Lashkar-e-Taiba threat

Dan’s Winds of War tells us that Australia is discovering that Lashkar-e-Taiba poses a serious threat to its security. Recently, the Australian security agencies arrested a 21-year old medical student of Pakistani origin for having received terrorist training from LET in Pakistan. Australia’s other LET alumnus is interned in Guantanamo Bay and is reported to have been requested to be a suicide bomber by al Qaeda.
This is an archived blog post from The Acorn.

Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) has quickly become one of the world’s leading terrorist training organisations, according to an Australian terrorism expert.

Before Afghanistan changed, these people would have received training at al-Qaeda camps,” said Clive Williams, director of terrorism studies at the Australian National University. Now, because there are not al-Qaeda training camps, they get their training at affiliate organisations like LET.”[The Age] In spite of Musharraf’s protestations the United Jehad Council is very much in business and has issued a statement reiterating that their campaign of violence will continue.
