US builds an Afghan airbase

And it’s distressing the Pakistanis.
This is an archived blog post from The Acorn.

While this airbase is being built to tackle the Taliban-remnants who are still running riot in Afghanistan’s provinces bordering Pakistan, it is so close to the Pakistani border that it allows quick strikes into Pakistan from the west. Considering Afghanistan and the north-west was once seen as giving strategic depth’ to Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal, this airbase is sure to cause alarm to more than the Islamic fundamentalist parties.
