Ramana Athreya, the professional astronomer (yes, astronomer) who discovered this bird named it after the tribe that lives in the vicinity of the Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary, Arunachal Pradesh. [See BirdLife International & Athreya’s paper (pdf) in Indian Birds]
